Why on the farm?
Rambling Roots Academy was created to provide children the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow while being immersed in the natural beauty of our farm. We believe that the most meaningful learning happens when children are connected to the world around them—especially the natural world.
The rise in families seeking educational enrichment programs and supplemental learning opportunities reflects a growing desire for more flexible, holistic approaches to childhood education. Traditional classroom settings often prioritize standardized instruction, leaving many parents searching for alternatives that foster creativity, hands-on learning, and individualized growth.
Farm-based education, like other nature-inspired models, offers a compelling answer to this need. Rooted in real-world experiences, farm programs encourage children to engage with the natural cycles of life, animals, plants, and ecosystems, creating a rich and dynamic learning environment. This approach not only supports cognitive and social development but also instills essential life skills such as responsibility, problem-solving, and teamwork. As families increasingly recognize the value of outdoor, experiential learning, farm-based education stands out as a unique and meaningful way to inspire curiosity, connection, and confidence in young learners.
At Rambling Roots Academy, we don’t just teach; we cultivate a love for discovery and growth in every child. By joining our program, your child will experience an education that goes far beyond the classroom, rooted in the beauty, challenges, and rewards of the natural world.

Inquiry-Based Education
Curiosity remains at the heart of everything we do. Our monthly unit themes are designed to spark wonder, ignite meaningful questions, and guide natural exploration. These thoughtfully chosen themes provide gentle structure while allowing children the freedom to follow their interests, explore deeply, and make lasting connections through hands-on experiences.
Interest-Led Learning Within a Montessori Framework
We blend a Montessori-inspired foundation with the flexibility of child-led discovery. Our monthly themes—such as “Mammals & Me,” “Seeds & Soil,” or “Water & Wonder”—serve as a launchpad for rich, engaging learning. Within this framework, children explore at their own pace, following what excites them most, while also engaging in structured foundational lessons in early literacy and math rooted in the Science of Reading and real-world application.
Our approach is deeply personalized. We meet each child where they are, tailoring lessons and activities to support their growth and confidence. With nurturing guidance, children gain essential skills, a sense of ownership in their learning, and a lifelong love of discovery.
With over 12 years of experience in early childhood education, Ms. Grace brings a deep passion for child-led, hands-on learning rooted in Montessori principles and real-world experiences. After moving to the Lowcountry from the Chicago suburbs, she combined her love of teaching, animals, and nature to create Rambling Roots Academy—a place where children feel valued, curious, and free to explore.
Ms. Grace and her co-teacher, Ms. Kylie, share a strong partnership and a vision for joyful, meaningful education. Together, they create a nurturing space where every child can grow in confidence, wonder, and connection.
Ms. Kylie is an enthusiastic early childhood educator with a passion for nurturing young minds. Growing up in South Carolina, she developed a love for teaching and caring for children that began with seven years of babysitting. This hands-on experience laid a solid foundation for her role as the Head of Childcare for two years, where she honed her leadership skills and deepened her understanding of child development.
For the past two years, Ms. Kylie has been teaching at a Montessori preschool, embracing the philosophy of fostering independence and creativity in children. Currently, she is pursuing an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Development to further enhance her knowledge and skills in the field.
In addition to her dedication to education, Ms. Kylie is a proud pet owner, sharing a home with three dogs, two cats, and two lizards. She believes that a nurturing environment, whether in the classroom or at home, is essential for growth and learning.
Ms. Kylie is excited to continue inspiring young learners and looks forward to creating a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
